All right, I admit it: I am not ecologically sustainable.

I am not particularly green, either. Given my family origins in India, I am rather brown.

Seriously.

To mention just two of my sins, I love technology gewgaws and I purchase numerous, non-recyclable packaged goods by necessity, not choice, since alternative products are not often available.

Some other facts about me that may contribute to my lack of sustainability:

  • I buy takeout when it's my turn to cook
  • I forget to bring along a cloth bag when I grocery shop.
  • Most of the goods I own are not ecologically sound especially this Apple laptop I'm writing on.
  • I think there are truths even more inconvenient than the havoc the climate crisis is bound to create.

Despite the fact that we are using up resources and that the climate is becoming more unstable, it may be unhelpful for us to believe we can "save the planet," which, besides being a remarkable place of paradox and beauty, is also a molten gurgling mass of matter that revolves around the sun without our consent.

We can choose to live in harmony with the Earth, however. And perhaps even with each other.

Capiche?
